Fresh vs Frozen:
A lot of people missed out on the frozen Copper River king pre-orders because we sold out in one day.
If you missed it, don't worry! We will probably be able to offer more once the season gets started and the catch is good.
In the meantime, order some FRESH (never frozen) king or sockeye to enjoy as we catch it!
When you order fresh, please be sure to order only as much as you can eat right away (asap, or within 5 days).
Don't order a lot of fresh and plan to freeze it yourself because it won't be as high quality as when we professionally freeze it to -20 right away in Alaska.
Our fresh (non-frozen) salmon arrives in specialized packaging that is rigid on the bottom for stability, and extra thin on top to allow for air transfer, keeping refrigerated fish fresh longer. In a pinch, you can freeze it in this packaging for a short time, but it's not the proper packaging for high-quality long-term freezing.
Copper River timeline:
Early May - We will start pre-selling a limited amount of Copper River King and Sockeye, that will be shipped end of May/early June. We will announce it to our VIP email list first. It usually sells out fast because we only put a conservative amount up for pre-sale since we don't know what the season will be like.
Mid-May - The Copper River King and Sockeye season will open around May 22nd, depending on the returning salmon numbers. The fish returns are monitored daily and we only open when the target numbers are being hit for sustainability.
End of May - We will be shipping FRESH (never frozen) pre-orders May 26th - June 2nd. Frozen pre-orders will ship in early June. We start by shipping pre-orders first, and then offer more King and Sockeye as we catch it. If you miss the pre-sale, watch for emails during this time.
Frequently asked questions:
FRESH - Our fresh fish is not frozen and arrives at refrigerated temps. It comes in specialize packaging for proper air flow that is not meant to be frozen. We only offer fresh fish for the first few weeks of the copper river season. Only order what you can eat at quickly as possible (within 5 days).
FROZEN - We specialize in frozen fish individually vacuum sealed for premium sushi quality that last for a full year in the freezer.
Copper River salmon is the best in the world, and also the first salmon to spawn and be commercially available in the spring. For this reason, there is a lot of enthusiasm and pent up demand when the fishing season opens in mid-May. We ship our orders out first come- first served, and by placing a pre-order you are securing your place in line.
Pre-orders are charged to your credit card at the time the order is placed.
We will send you an email before your order is shipped.
Pre-orders are shipped as soon as the fish is available, by order number. Depending on your order placement and the catch, you can expect to receive your pre-order the last week of May or early June. You will receive a tracking email on the day it ships.
We ship pre-orders upon availability, usually Mondays thru Wednesdays. You can specify the week you would like to receive your pre-order, and we will do our best based on availability, but can not guarantee we will be able to comply with your request. You can make requests and add shipping details to the note section of your order.
